Camden fitness retailer races into future with 2021 expansion plans
A UK fitness retailer has today announced that it is planning new store openings across the UK despite the challenges posed to the high street.
Runners Need, which was founded in Camden in 1982, said that it has seen an increase in e-commerce performance and demand throughout the pandemic as more Brits take up running.
The company has opened 10 new stores in recent months, and has confirmed that it is aiming to open more in 2021.
Charlie Drummond, general manager of Runners Need, commented: “Throughout 2020 participation in running has been higher than ever as people look to make the most of the outdoors and seek new and varied ways to maintain physical and mental wellbeing in these challenging times.
“I am incredibly proud of Runners Need’s work to support the running community and bring our expertise and service to more and more customers, both by expanding to 43 stores nationwide in 2020 and through our exciting expansion plans for 2021.”
Andrew Wood, head of marketing at Runners Need, added: “We genuinely love running and we want to share that enthusiasm and knowledge with our customers, which is why it’s so fantastic to be able to open in new locations so new running communities can visit us in-store for expert guidance on anything from training, racing and nutrition to footwear, clothing and electronics.
“We believe that a great running experience begins with the right shoe, so our staff are trained to offer free video gait analysis and professional fitting services in every store.”
