North East pub company to create 50 jobs with opening of new Northallerton venue
An Alnwick-based hospitality group has been given the green light to open a new inn in Northallerton which will create 50 jobs.
The Inn Collection Group have secured planning permission to transform Northallerton’s former police station into a 32-bedroom inn.
The multi-million-pound refurbishment is set to begin early next year, with the site expected to fully open in 2021 as the Northallerton Inn, creating up to 50 full and part time jobs.
The Grade II listed building stands on Northallerton’s High Street and has also been a local authority office and library.
It is the fourth Yorkshire location in the Inn Collection’s Group, following on from sites in Roseberry, Helmsley, and Whitby. The company also has properties in the Lake District, Northumberland, County Durham, and Lancashire.
Sean Donkin, managing director for the Inn Collection Group, said: “We are delighted to have completed on the Police Station in Northallerton. It’s a site we have been working together with the vendors and our design partners on for a considerable period of time.”
He continued: “We are excited to be broadening our customer base and presence here in Yorkshire with the addition of a Northallerton location to our group. We have a proven track record for repurposing and enhancing historic buildings.”
He finished off by saying: “We’re looking forward to applying that here and creating an exciting new venue in the heart of Northallerton and being a part of the community, providing year-round food, drink and accommodation services, and of course, employment opportunities at a critical time.”
