Barratt Homes colleagues bring Christmas cheer to children despite pandemic
Colleagues at Barratt Homes Southampton have been showing their support for Operation Christmas Child - an initiative organised by international relief charity, Samaritans Purse.
With Christmas 2020 looking rather different than usual, the five-star housebuilder saw it as even more important to continue supporting the charity, as they have done in previous years.
Operation Christmas Child sends shoeboxes filled with toys, games and other goodies to children throughout the world who may not otherwise receive gifts. It has been an initiative supported by Barratt for a number of years and staff donated enough money for a total of 20 shoeboxes.
Jon Green, managing director of Barratt Homes Southampton said: “Christmas may be a change from what we are used to, but we saw no reason to continue spreading that festive cheer.
“As an established member of the local community, we feel this is a great way of representing our local area in helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
“The team here at Barratt Homes has responded brilliantly, and we’ve had lots of boxes piled up. Staff have even provided £5 per box to ensure they reach their intended recipients.
“We hope our efforts will bring a little festive joy to children who may not have much to be cheery about right now. I can only begin to imagine the hardships they face, and I’m proud that so many of my colleagues across the south have taken part in our collection.”
