Financial expert pays tribute to resilient businesses
SHEFFIELD business turnaround and insolvency practice Graywoods has paid tribute to the companies who have worked together to navigate their way through 2020 and the COVID-19 nightmare.
Graywoods partner Deborah Lockwood said she had been consistently impressed by the resilience displayed by businesses facing uncertainty as the pandemic tightened its hold throughout the year.
“Looking back, it seems almost impossible to imagine that there was a time when people really thought Coronavirus would have an impact for just a few weeks and that everybody would be able to quickly move on,” she said.
“Instead, the virus has had a major impact on every sector of the business community and that impact is going to reverberate for a long time to come.
“But the thing that does impress me consistently is the spirit of resilience and collaboration, the way that businesses have come together to offer mutual support wherever possible.
“I fact, I would even say that many business relationships have actually been strengthened throughout this period.
“We have witnessed adaptability in the workplace on a level that would previously have been unimaginable and many employers have been very encouraged by the way their workforce have joined with them to find a way forward.”
Deborah added, however, that the New Year - with the pandemic still not over and Brexit negotiations still to be resolved - would bring fresh concerns for businesses worried about the future.
“It is at a time like this that I emphasise the importance of seeking the right advice at the right time - and that is always sooner rather than later,” she said.
“There is no doubt that there will be some tough decisions to be made in 2021 but by seeking advice before a problem becomes a crisis, many employers could help themselves and their staff negotiate their way to a brighter future.”
