Thirsk Manufacturer Saves 13 Tonnes of CO2 Each Year After Tech Investment
Thirsk manufacturers, GSM Graphic Arts, have installed a 55kW roof-mounted system that will deliver 43,000 kWh of electricity, saving over 13 tonnes of CO2 every year.
The brand-new solar photovoltaic systems were installed as an alternative to on-site diesel generators and substations, which didn’t fit in with the company’s green values.
From the installation, the business expects to save around 20% on energy bills each year, which could increase once the battery system is optimised. Geo Green Power will also install a battery storage system and an EV charger at GSM Graphic Arts site.
There are also plans to install the same system across other company facilities if the solar panels prove to be effective.
Paul Wright, CEO at GSM Graphic Arts, said: “Having spoken with several providers and visited ‘happy users’, we selected Geo Green Power on the basis of recommendation, the effectiveness of the existing systems we reviewed, customer feedback and the professionalism exhibited by James and the team.
“Our project is fairly unusual in that we are using the system to manage peak demand and increase capacity, in addition to generating purely for environmental and ROI reasons.”
This isn’t the first time that GSM Graphic Arts have focused on improving their commitment to the environment, having been zero-landfill for over a decade and only using renewable energy source for their operations.
