'5 on the Farm' Festival to Boost Yorkshire Tourism and Economy
Channel 5 has revealed it is bringing one of the biggest festivals of rural life in the UK to Yorkshire this summer, boosting the local economy and driving visitors to the region.
The first ever ‘5 on the Farm Festival’ will take place over the August Bank Holiday at Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley, south Yorkshire, where hit Channel 5 show, This Week on the Farm is filmed.
Ben Fogle, presenter of Channel 5 series New Lives in the Wild, Graeme Hall of Dogs Behaving Very Badly and TV farming expert Adam Henson are among the top line-up.
Also, appearing at the event is Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen, stars of Our Yorkshire Vet, Julian Norton and Peter Wright, and many more.
For younger visitors, Channel 5 has also revealed that Milkshake! favourites Peppa Pig, Chase and Marshall from PAW Patrol, Milkshake! Monkey, Blue’s Clues and Milkshake! Presenters Kemi, Derek and Jen will also be attending and meeting fans in the Milkshake! Meadow at the festival.
Over 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the three-day outdoor event which is billed as the perfect British day out and dog-friendly weekend staycation for all ages.
Visitors can step into the world of Channel 5’s best loved shows and enjoy a fantastic variety of activities including presenter panels and Q&As, floristry, pottery, woodwork, arts and crafts, cooking, yoga, bee keeping, baking and countryside skills workshops and demonstrations, and see their favourite stars perform throughout the weekend – all included in the ticket price.
Channel 5, which is owned by Viacom International Media Networks, is proactively hiring as many local businesses as possible to be part of the weekend. Already contracted is Hot Metal printers (Barnsley), Titan Risk Management (Leeds), Awesome Merchandise (Leeds) and Wrapped Agency (York) for creative comms.
An array of local artisans and small businesses have also began securing stalls, with several delivering workshops and crafting in dedicated areas. The site will have a dedicated regional food and drink spot, The Kitchen, celebrating Yorkshire’s finest!
Event sponsorship packages from Yorkshire brands and retailer opportunities are available and enquiries welcomed, say the organisers.
Commenting on the festival coming to regional Mayor Dan Jarvis MP said: “It is hugely welcome that Channel Five plan to put Barnsley and South Yorkshire on the map as part of the first ever ‘5 on the Farm Festival’, with an event line-up jam-packed with activities and famous faces that will bring a lot of joy to fans of the outdoors and our region.
“Cannon Hall Farm is a fantastic community asset and a major event like this is an integral part of our visitor economy and cultural offer here in Barnsley.”
