Multi-million pound community hub completes in South London
A multi-million pound community hub project has reached completion in South London.
Offsite construction specialist The McAvoy Group has completed work on the £5.3m Timebridge Community Centre in New Addington, Croydon.
Combining the former Fieldway Family Centre and Timebridge Centre, the new two-storey building will provide a range of services for the local community, including a nursery, food bank, youth and family hub and a community café.
In addition, the centre also includes several flexible spaces available for hire, including a multi-purpose sports hall, two studio spaces, conference and meeting rooms, social areas and workspace.
Gavin Ward, project manager at The McAvoy Group, commented: “The Centre is a real focal point for the community in New Addington so we’re very pleased to have been able to complete the new building on schedule, despite the site, supply chain and workforce challenges created by the pandemic back in spring.
“It’s an excellent example of offsite construction and MMC at its most effective, delivered quickly with minimal disruption but to the highest quality, design and sustainability standards. It’s a project we’re all very proud of.”
Cllr Simon Hall, cabinet member for finance and resources at New Addington North Ward, added: “The McAvoy team has done an excellent job in delivering an outstanding new building that will serve the local community in Croydon for many years to come.”
