North Yorkshire online meat firm creates over 80 new jobs as part of growth strategy
A Yorkshire online meat company aiming to provide sustainable meat to consumers is set for expansion with the creation of over 80 new jobs.
Ripon-based company Farmison & Co has announced it has appointed professional services firm KPMG after doubling sales in the last 12 months.
The firm, which has created more than 80 jobs as it has expanded, aims to become a £100m brand in a category where consumer choice has mainly consisted of unbranded offerings.
Over the past 12 months Farmison & Co has introduced seven day and next day delivery options and invested £1m of capital expenditure in cold storage capacity.
John Pallagi, founder and CEO of Farmison & Co, commented: “Farmison & Co has shown great resilience since we started the business 10 years ago, leading the way in quality and investing in British heritage breeds, as we help the nation eat better meat.
“Now, we want to go further ensuring we can continue our growth, fly the flag for British meat excellence, and in support of the farmers who play such a vital role in our supply chain.”
Andy Bond, former Asda CEO and an initial investor in Farmison & Co, added: “I’ve watched Farmison & Co’s journey from day one, and from strong roots the team have built a hugely impressive, fast growing successful company.
“Farmison & Co’s commitment to upholding high welfare and product values matches the increased customer desire for provenance and quality. I look forward to watching the business’ exciting story unfold over the months ahead.”
Rob Baxter, head of KPMG’s consumer and retail M&A practice, said: “Farmison & Co continues to go from strength to strength, consistently recognising and catering to changing consumer needs.
“Having grown quickly and profitably, with the opportunity to export overseas alongside the right investment partner, the potential for this British business to grow further is limitless.”
