Anwyl Partnerships given green light for Woodlands affordable housing scheme
Anwyl Partnerships, specialists in the provision of residential land and build developments, has been awarded a contract to deliver 23 much-needed affordable homes in Gwersyllt, Wrexham for Wales & West Housing.
The homes, comprising 16 houses, three bungalows and four apartments, will be built on the site of Woodlands Farm in the village of Gwersyllt, all of which will be traditionally built and designed in line with Welsh Design Quality Requirements.
Work is set to commence on the site in June this year, with planning approval granted following an appeal. The project, set within green belt land, is expected to take 12 months and will provide additional affordable housing to meet Wrexham Council’s needs upon completion.
Tom Anwyl, Managing Director of Anwyl Partnerships commented: “There is a clear lack of quality, affordable housing for people in this area and the positive planning appeal has paved the way to help meet this need. These homes will be built to a high standard and delivered using local labour.
“We’re incredibly pleased to once again be chosen by Wales & West Housing to deliver this important scheme and have begun early preparation works ahead of starting on site in June.”
The development sits in an area of strong ecological interest, specifically in relation to newts. Therefore, a new habitat area will also be built to cater to these natural inhabitants as part of the works.
Tom added: “This is a sensitive green belt area which is rich in plant and animal life. We have a clear plan in place to protect and enhance local wildlife and ensure the build causes as little disruption as possible.”
Gary Cook, Wales & West Housing Regional Development Manager for North Wales, said: “We are committed to building 2,500 new homes in Wales over the next five years to help tackle the national shortfall of affordable housing. This new development in Gwersyllt will provide high quality, warm, energy efficient homes which are much-needed in the area. We are pleased to be working with Anwyl Partnerships to deliver the new homes, which will make a difference to the local community.”
