Nottingham Digital Agency Staff Raise £8.5k to Support Colleague
The team at leading Nottingham digital agency Adtrak has run, walked, cycled and canoed to raise £8,500 for a cancer charity, in support of their colleague.
Louisa Hollman has been a Senior Marketer at Adtrak for the past five years. Louisa was diagnosed with breast cancer in September last year and is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy with radiotherapy and surgery in the near future.
As a keen roller skater (previously a member of the Nottingham Hellfire Harlots) and HIIT (high intensity interval training) enthusiast herself, Louisa is missing being able to exercise. So, her colleagues came up with the idea of a collective exercise fundraisers to support Louisa and raise money for a charity close to her heart, that has really helped her through this challenging time.
To support Louisa, 40 people at the company covered over 4,500km running, walking, cycling and even canoeing. Over four weeks the group managed to smash their original target of 3,500km and raise over £8,500 for Shine Cancer Support.
Shine Cancer Support offers invaluable cancer support for people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s and provides a wide range of services for young people with cancer.
Louisa said: “I am so touched and full of gratitude to each and every one who has contributed to this achievement. Cancer sucks at any age but having access to information and support from people who “get it” really makes a difference. As a young person with cancer, everything changes in one terrible moment and you have to rebuild your life’s aspirations and dreams as well as manage the fear it could all come crashing down again. The help and community that Shine provides has given me the reassurance that my future is still very much whatever I want it to be.”
Holly Shackleton, Operations Director at Adtrak, added “We went about this challenge to show our support for Louisa, and our thoughts will remain with her. I feel very proud of what we have achieved as a company, thank you so much to everyone who took part, and to everyone who donated to this very worthy cause.”
Jonathan Smith, Fundraising Officer at Shine Cancer Support, comments: “Thank you so much to everyone who donated, this is an incredible amount which will make a huge difference to the support we are able to provide. Just £10 connects one person to their local support network, £100 supports a network for a month. £3000 supports a one-day workshop where people can access expert speakers and peer support. So that’s the difference your funds will make.
“Thank you all and we are all thinking of Louisa too, wishing the best for her treatment and glad that she is finding our support helpful.”
