Insurance broker expands into new premises
A County Durham insurance broker is set to move into a new home after outgrowing its previous premises.
Park Commercial will be relocating from its previous office in Langley Moor to a new base in Durham’s Meadowfield Industrial Estate, almost trebling its space.
The move comes as the firm plans to recruit more staff over the coming 12 months to meet increased demand for its services.
Managing director David Park, said: “This is all very exciting! We’ve talked about this for a long time but now we have a new home. Our old office served us incredibly well, but our new building is now our future and it’ll be an inspirational space for our team and ideas to flourish.
“Our previous office was bursting at the seams, so it was the perfect time to move to a modern facility, with more parking and a better working environment, to accommodate our expanding workforce and client list.
“With over 3,200sq feet at our disposal, we will have an amazing space and facilities for our team. We’ll now have access to our own conference room, training facilities and individual meeting spaces along with a wonderful open plan working environment.
“The team and I are excited to have a really modern workplace with excellent facilities, and I’m delighted that we will also be able to offer a better service to clients, with more staff, private meeting rooms and conference facilities if required.”
David added that the firm is looking to recruit five new members of staff over the next year to support continued growth, with positions available in client-facing roles, administration and accounts.
However, he cautioned that the Covid-19 pandemic may hamper such plans.
“The latest lockdown could have an impact on our recruitment plans, as the general uncertainty of the situation means people are unsure about taking on new roles,” he said.
“However, we encourage flexible working at Park, and we already had functionality to work from home - something the majority of staff have been doing since the start of the pandemic.
“The most important lesson this past year has taught me is to trust your workforce, something we already do with our unlimited holiday scheme. If the team are happy the business will flourish.
“Working from home has reinforced the fact that we have a superb workforce who we can trust implicitly.”
