Multi-million pound East London waterfront regeneration project gets green light
Plans for a new mixed-use development in East London have been given the go-ahead.
Housebuilder Weston Homes has received a Resolution to Grant planning permission from the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham for Weston’s proposals to regenerate the Town Quay Wharf site on Barking’s waterfront.
Located off Abbey Road and covering over 5,630 sq m, the £50m Town Quay Wharf will provide 147 new one, two and three bedroom apartments of mixed tenure and 1,000 sq m of ground floor commercial space, located in three new buildings designed around a public plaza overlooking the waterfront.
Bob Weston, chairman and chief executive of Weston Homes, commented: “Weston Homes is delighted to have gained a resolution to grant planning for our new Town Quay Wharf development on the waterfront at Barking.
“Town Quay Wharf will help to reconnect Barking town centre with the waterfront and create a vibrant new waterfront development with apartments benefitting from a waterside and parkside setting.”
“Weston Homes has a track record of delivery in Barking and this is the company’s tenth residential development in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
“Town Quay Wharf and Abbey Quays represents some £400 million (GDV) of new development on the Barking waterfront underlining Weston Homes role as one of the leading residential developers in the local area.”
