Iliad announce partnership with national operator Room 2 for prestigious Duke Street hotel plan
Long-established Liverpool developer, Iliad, has submitted plans for a prestigious new hotel development in Liverpool city centre.
The company, which has successfully delivered a number of residential and commercial building schemes across the North West over the last thirty-five years, has put forward plans for a 190 bedroom hotel on Duke Street which is set to continue the regeneration and renaissance of Liverpool’s Ropewalks district.
Iliad is set to invest £30million on the development which has been designed by the award winning Tim Groom Architects.
It will occupy a car park space between Duke Street and Parr Street and a 1950s building which was used as office space and later as a temporary base for a performing arts academy.
Iliad is excited to announce that they have partnered with emerging London-based hotel company Room 2 on the project. It will be the company’s first hotel in the North of England.
The hotel development will also include a lounge, gym, co-working and dining facilities, ground floor commercial space and 38 short-stay car parking spaces.
The Iliad Brand has a long term history and is a key stakeholder in the Ropewalks community having been at the forefront of regenerating the Ropewalks for over thirty years, developing such projects as Elysian Fields, East Village , Manolis Yard, Lever court , The Eight Building, and the list goes on.
A spokesperson for Iliad said:
“We are incredibly excited to have submitted plans for this prestigious hotel development which will further continue the regeneration and renaissance of the Ropewalks community. The Design of this building is we believe something very special, and will enhance considerable the built environment on Duke Street, Creating Shop Frontage and replacing a bland wall, and mock Victorian 1958 Frontage warehouse.
“Iliad has a long track record of developing in Liverpool, particularly in this community, so we are keen to build something that people can be proud of, We are confident of achieving this and will, as we always do, engage the local stakeholders to keep them informed as we progress.
“We are pleased to be working on yet another exciting collaboration with Tim Groom Architects on a design and we’re delighted to have attracted a major hotel player in Room 2 to become the hotel operator. Securing Room 2 is a real coup and confidence boost for Liverpool.”
Iliad is expected to create up to 150 jobs in the building of the hotel development. Over 100 new job opportunities will be created at the hotel.
