Kind Hearted Cascaders To Walk 1 Million Steps for Older People
The team at Cascade Cash Management has come together to take up a month long challenge to raise funds for Age UK Northumberland.
Conceived by Client Support Specialist, Georgia Boddy, the team have pledged to walk a million steps together to raise £1,000. The team of eleven, including MD Dr Emma Black, are now logged into Stridekick, to count every precious footstep they make this month.
Between them they are hoping to raise as much as possible through their Just Giving page, to donate to Age UK Northumberland, a local independent registered charity that supports, office advice and services to older people across the county.
When asked why the team had taken on the challenge, Dr Emma Black, said:
“All of us have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in one way or another. But imagine being an older person who is stuck at home, unable to see family, go to the shops or attend a weekly class or social meeting. Imagine the loneliness, especially as the older generation don’t have or can’t use the technology that has got a lot of us through these strange times.
“Without Age UK Northumberland keeping them safe in their homes, making phone calls, delivering food and activity packages and much more, many of these older people would have been totally alone.
“That’s why our team chose this charity, to say thank you. And why we are walking a million steps between us, to show we also care about the older people and about the amazing team who kept everything going! Please do donate if you can – every penny and pound counts!”
Cascade Cash Management is the region’s leading, award-winning cash management service. Cascade delivers an independent and transparent savings service originally designed to generate enhanced cash returns and increased depositor protection through professional cash management.
The unique online savings portal, which is the only one of its kind in the UK, has seen the team administer today over £1bn, servicing over 3,000 advisers across the UK. About to launch a community for savers and proud to be a business with purpose, the Cascade team are always looking for new ways to pay it forward.
Head of Charitable services at Age UK Northumberland, Amy Whyte, said:
“It is amazing to get support from companies like Cascade in the region, as a local charity every penny we raise is spent here and without support like this our funding and activity could be a very different story.
“Our challenge of keeping older people safe and looked after, so they can enjoy later years, is increased massively by the rural nature of our county and of course, even more so by the pandemic. Our team has worked hard to ensure that the vulnerable and those in need are cared for with friendship and wellbeing calls, financial and welfare advice; and personal support. But the challenge continues every single day….
“For our work to be recognised by corporates and individuals who wish to fundraise for us is so important and we can’t thank the team at Cascade enough… reward them for their kindness and efforts by donating please!”
