Gibb Group Wins Contract to Deliver Volume Lifeline Systems to Tier 1 Supplier
One of Europe’s leading manufacturers and distributors of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Maintenance Repair and Operational (MRO) equipment - Gibb Group - has announced it has successfully delivered volume numbers of MSA Latchway Sealed Self-Retracting Lifelines and systems for Tier I supplier, Saipem, as part of its operational delivery on the Neart Na Gaoithe (NNG) windfarm.
Located 15km off the east coast of Scotland, in the outer firth of forth, the NNG windfarm is being developed by EDF Renewables UK and Energy for Generations. Work on the windfarm started in 2019 and is expected to complete in 2023. Once, completed, the site is expected to generate around 450MW of renewable energy, enough to power 375,000 homes.
As part of the ongoing NNG project, Gibb Group has delivered a range of safety, survival and PPE equipment that will enable project personnel to operate safely and effectively on site. This has included a range of workwear including harsh environment suits, life jackets and harnesses together with a range of other general safety and survival equipment.
In addition to this, the PPE and MRO provider has supplied Tier 1 contractor, Saipem, with a volume of MSA Latchways, outside of its original scope of work. Intended to be used as a connecting element within a personal fall arrest system for Turbine access , the Latchways formed an integral part of the NNG work programme and – to avoid downtime – were required by Saipem in quick turnaround and to locations in the UK and Overseas.
