Former record label HQ of David Bowie fame set for new lease of life
A former record label HQ known for working with David Bowie is set to be given a new lease of life as it is brought to market.
28 Bolton Street in Mayfair - the former UK headquarters of RCA Records - has been brought to market, with an opportunity to convert the site into office space or residential units.
Between 1973 and 1985, 28 Bolton Street served as the UK headquarters of the recording label, which worked with the likes of David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Iggy Pop, Diana Ross, Nina Simone, Harry Nilsson and Lou Reed.
The property, which is on sale via joint sole agents Knight Frank and Wetherell, provides the opportunity for conversion into a multi-unit residential development providing either four larger apartments or 11 studio suites.
James McCluskey, partner at Knight Frank (London Capital markets) commented: “With the benefits of a prime Mayfair address and a range of options, 28 Bolton Street offers investors and owner occupiers the opportunity to acquire a freehold property and either continue to use as prime office accommodation or change the use to multi-unit residential.
“The refurbished asset would provide secure long term income if let and we expect the opportunity to be very well received by the market.”
Peter Wetherell, founder and chairman of Wetherell added: “it is rare in Mayfair to have the opportunity to purchase the freehold of an entire townhouse in such a good location.
“A developer or build-to-rent operator could remodel the property into a multi-unit apartment scheme making 28 Bolton Street then perfect for either rental income or sale.
“The local South Mayfair district is undergoing significant repositioning with several prominent development schemes including The Clarges Estate and 60 Curzon Street helping to revitalise the area.”
