North East Managing Director recognised for championing women in the transport industry.
Lisa Fleming, Managing Director of North East based transport compliance consultants, Logico, is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious Industry Champion award.
The 2021 Amazon Everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards showcases the crucial positions women hold in transport and logistics, demonstrating progression, accomplishments and increasing avenues of opportunity.
Whilst more woman have taken up senior roles within the sector since the awards launched 14 years ago, they still only account for 20% of workers. The Amazon Everywoman awards aim to celebrate the UK’s brightest female talent and create a platform to applaud their success.
Logico, based in Newton Aycliffe, offer bespoke compliance and management solutions and HR support to businesses across the UK and was launched by Lisa in 2019 when she spotted a gap in the transport compliance market.
Using her law degree and 16 years experience within the industry, she developed a strong business plan and quickly gained a large client base which has enabled her to rapidly grow the business and employ further members of staff.
The company have continually progressed and are DVSA approved auditors, ISO 9001 certified and have had success in gaining contracts with large-scale companies and a valuable partnership with a major law firm.
Not only a passionate supporter of women within the transport sector, Lisa was also an active board director for Aycliffe Business Park, only recently stepping down due to work commitments, she also sponsors various local children’s sports groups and is highly supportive of her employees. To be shortlisted in the Industry Champion award category is a tribute to the hard work and dedication Lisa has shown to her industry, community, employees and clients.
On being shortlisted, Lisa commented, “I am delighted and overwhelmed to feature in the Industry Champion award category. In a male-dominated industry, it can be very daunting to take risks, set up a business and make this successful, however, with the help of my colleagues, family and friends, it has been so rewarding to see Logico grow and be able to assist to so many of our clients.
I hope that our continuing success inspires the current and future generation of women in the transport sector, I’m looking forward to further expansion within the business, employing new members of staff and of course, the virtual award finals in July.“
