Adlington Management Services appoints General Manager for Romiley development

The management arm of Adlington Retirement Living has appointed a new general manager to its development in Romiley.

Aron Sloly, who was previously a duty manager at The Cottons, an Adlington Retirement Living development in Ramsbottom, now leads a team of nine (six duty managers, two housekeepers and a maintenance technician) at The Folds in Romiley.

Having previously owned and managed a bistro and two restaurants over a period of 14 years, Aron is putting his hospitality experience to good use with Adlington Management Services.

Aron said: “Running my own hospitality businesses, I was used to providing high levels of customer service and being attentive to our clientele. Those skills transfer well to our aspirational retirement living communities. I’m thoroughly enjoying getting to know our Homeowners and already have some exciting plans for The Folds.”

The Folds won the Silver Award for Best Retirement Development in the UK at the WhatHouse? Awards 2020, the UK housebuilding’s most prestigious event.

The judges were impressed by ‘the interior, which has been thoughtfully designed to blend a contemporary feel with understated elegance and includes a table-service restaurant, lounge and separate coffee lounge, therapy suite, activities/fitness studio and hairdressing salon’.

They also recognised the personal approach offered by the in-house management company, Adlington Management Services, who provide round the clock support, 365 days a year, along with an emergency call system to provide Homeowners and their families added peace of mind.

Adlington Retirement Living, which has always designed and built its own schemes, brought the management of its retirement communities in-house with the launch of Adlington Management Services in 2019.

Ed Gladman, Managing Director of Adlington Retirement Living, said: “Our move to manage our own developments is part of our strategy for long term growth. It ensures we can provide a consistently outstanding service to our Homeowners. Our communities offer a safe, secure and happy environment with a circle of friends and a sense of belonging.”

Aron added: “I’ve been really impressed with the way that the business has looked after our Homeowners and staff throughout the pandemic. Now that lockdown restrictions are beginning to ease, we’re tentatively introducing some socially distanced events for our Homeowners in the gardens.

“Last week we held our first monthly outdoor tasting demonstration with our chef. During the lockdowns, our on-site restaurant had to temporarily close, so the team prepared and delivered freshly cooked lunchtime meals to our Homeowners’ front doors. We’re continuing to offer that service until the restaurant reopens, so this event is a nice opportunity for everybody to meet our chef in the gardens and for him to introduce his new seasonal menu.

“Our hairdresser returned to the salon last week and we had a nail technician join us for a pamper day. We’re also looking forward to starting some group activities soon, from our ‘knit and natter’ sessions, to our gardening club and ‘croquet and canapes’ on the lawn. “When the lockdown restrictions end, we’re planning to hold a 1940’s themed party with a singer performing hits from that era and dancers performing some jive and rockabilly moves. It’s nice to have so much to look forward to!”

Adlington Retirement Living develops and operates high-end, purpose-built retirement communities in the North West, Yorkshire and The Midlands.

The Folds is the fourth Adlington Retirement Living community to have won an award for the Best Retirement Development in the UK at the WhatHouse? Awards. The Bridges in Macclesfield won the Silver Award in 2019, Adlington House in Otley won the Gold Award in 2017 and Adlington House in Portishead won the Bronze Award in 2015.
