National flooring retailer lays on Wellbeing Month activities for staff
The UK’s leading online flooring retailer is laying on a month of activities and events to support its teams’ wellbeing.
UK Flooring Direct employs more than 200 people across its sites in Hinckley, Leicestershire, and Coventry, West Midlands, selling more than 250 products including wood and laminate flooring to both retail and trade customers via its website.
The company, which recorded annual sales of more than £50 million in 2020 and is on course to treble that by 2022, has designated the whole of May as Wellbeing Month for its office and warehouse teams.
UK Flooring Direct is putting on online exercise classes including pilates and other fitness classes, as well as offering financial advice sessions in partnership with HSBC.
The company has also set up talks with a host of wellbeing specialists. Holly Matthews, self-development coach and TEDx speaker runs the ‘Happy Me Project’ was brought in to offer an online workshop and Ali Swift, author of ‘My Wellness Toolbox’ and ‘Your Wellness Toolbox’ was asked to give the teams a live Q & A session on resilience and other tools to support in and outside of the workspace.
The company has also partnered with Urban Yoga Lab to deliver mindfulness meditation session, before the month’s events are drawn to a close by an hour of entertainment and music with Andrew James.
Faye Summers, head of HR at UK Flooring Direct, said: “The past year has seen so much change in the way we work due to the pandemic and has seen so many of our teams working from home and apart.
“As a company we’ve also continued to grow, have opened a second site in Coventry and have brought in new members to every one of our teams.
“It’s important that everyone in the UK Flooring Direct family feels valued and understand that their wellbeing is a priority for the business and that’s why we have dedicated this May our Wellbeing Month.
“We’ve offered a range of different classes, events and talks to support everyone’s physical, emotional, financial and mental wellbeing and the response has been great.
“We understand, however, that putting wellbeing first is not something that is restricted to just one month in the year and that is why we continue to work hard in making this a great place to work for everyone across the business consistently.”
