Ketchup back on the menu as Kraft Heinz reveals plans to invest £140m in UK plant
International condiment company Kraft Heinz has announced that it plans to invest £140m in its UK manufacturing facility.
The company, which produces Heinz sauces, has said that it will be undertaking its biggest expansion of an existing site outside the US in two decades.
The investment, which will take place over the next four years, will see the company’s Kitt Green plant near Manchester create up to 50 new full-time jobs, as well as new equipment and technology.
The plans come as Kraft Heinz reveals plans for the plant to produce Heinz ketchup, mayonnaise and salad cream, on top of its existing production lines for soups and pasta.
This will be the first time that the condiments will be produced in the UK since 1999.
Gerry Grimstone, UK minister for investment, commented: “The Kraft Heinz investment is a vote of confidence in the UK economy from a major US firm and a boost that will mean jobs and growth for the local economy.”
