The University of Sunderland is one of a select group of higher education institutions in the UK that are working directly with businesses to develop and deliver digital and technology apprenticeships.

The University of Sunderland were the second university in England to offer degree apprenticeships and have expanded their portfolio to incorporate higher, degree and Masters level due to their success.

Some of the most prominent North East companies that currently benefit from apprentices studying Digital and Technology Solutions apprenticeships include; Nissan, Sage, DXC, Newcastle Building Society, Tombola, Accenture and government departments like the NHS.

The University’s apprenticeships offer a blended and flexible approach to learning which allows an apprentice the opportunity to attend university, while also being employed full-time.

BScs (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Professional

The Digital and Technology Solutions Professional degree apprenticeship provides a route for employed apprentices to develop their skills and knowledge in computing and IT to degree level. This programme was developed as a result of the School of Computer Science’s work with businesses, to support skills growth, with content continually aligned to the current and future needs of employers. This apprenticeship provides a brilliant opportunity for apprentice employees to effectively contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Apprentices study the core principles and applications associated with digital and technology solutions and they can specialise in software engineering or the increasingly important area of cyber security. The programme has a very strong work-related focus and includes employer related project work. This approach allows the apprentices to integrate and apply their new skills and knowledge in order to be work ready for the future.
