New restaurant to bring taste of Mexico to Marylebone
A Mexican chef has announced that she is launching her first solo project in the UK with a new restaurant in London.
Cavita, the new venue from Adriana Cavita, will open in the centre of Marylebone Village this November.
The restaurant, which will seat 70 people, will serve food inspired by Adriana’s homeland of Mexico.
As well as the restaurant will be a hidden mezcaleria - cocktail bar - on the lower floor, which will have its own entrance.
The company said: “In the restaurant, ‘street food’ features heavily; a range of tacos including baja fish, ‘Pastor’ presa ibérica and cochinita pibil sit alongside lesser known items such as tetelas - triangular shaped corn masa filled with blue corn and roasted pink fir potato and calabacitas - smoked fresh corn, courgette, tomato, morita sauce.
“Larger plates are based around a selection of moles - from the word mōlli in Nahuatl meaning sauce - integral to Mexican cookery and made differently all over the country.
“To complete the meal, Adriana has created desserts from two of the most famed ingredients in Mexican cuisine; corn and chocolate.
“The interiors of Cavita will showcase the materials and textures of Mexico with wooden and tile elements, exposed bricks and a warm earthy colour palette, complete with ClayWorks natural finished walls.
“As well as individual tables, the restaurant will offer bookings at their ‘top table’, a communal dining spot with the best view of the kitchen which is served by Adriana herself.
“The cacti and plants help bring a sense of the outdoors inside in this central London location.”
