Green light for Newcastle Helix hotel set to boost North East hospitality scene
A German hospitality group has announced that it has received planning permission for its first North East hotel.
Vastint Hospitality, which has a portfolio of hotels across Europe, has been granted planning permission from Newcastle City Council for a new Moxy Hotel development at Newcastle Helix.
The development, which will be a boutique-hotel concept, will be the first of its kind in the area, and is expected to create new jobs, as well as boost the tourism sector in the region.
Matthijs den Teuling, development manager at Vastint Hospitality, commented: “This is a significant step in our plans to bring Moxy to Newcastle. We think the design makes a great statement for its prime location.
Matt Verlander, planning and development director at Avison Young, said: “The scheme represents a further key component of Newcastle Helix on a prominent gateway site to the city.”
Chris Turnbull, director in the Avison Young Building team, added: “We are delighted to have project managed the scheme through to a successful conclusion for both Vastint Hospitality and Newcastle Helix.”
