Rental development offering over 200 homes launches at East London riverside site

A new rental development offering over 200 new homes has launched in East London.

East London development Sugar House Island - led by Vastint - has launched its second and largest collection of riverside rental homes, Soapbox.

Surrounded by east London’s waterways, Sugar House Island is set against the backdrop of the Three Mills Wall River, 10 minutes’ walk from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and north of Canary Wharf.

Comprising 211 homes, the development’s properties - designed by Mæ architecture firm - range from studio apartments to four-bedroom mew houses.

In addition, the site features private balconies, landscaped courtyards, storage space, rooftop terraces and a riverside garden.

Andrew Cobden, managing director of Vastint UK, commented: “Sugar House Island is already a thriving community and we are looking forward to welcoming the new residents of Soapbox.

“With our first phase fully let and new retail and amenities launching this summer, including School 360, Sugar House Island is fast becoming an integrated and animated neighbourhood.”

Alex Ely, director at Mæ, added: “The Soapbox was designed to offer a diversity of great homes from mews houses to apartments around a shared garden, from river fronting homes to tower apartments with great views towards the City, Olympic Park or Three Mills Green.

“The intimate streets put people first and cars second, intended to help foster a better sense of community.

“We found inspiration for the textures and colours of the architecture from the heritage of the site, whilst the stripes and patterning picks up the rhythm of the river infrastructure.”
