It’s a dog's life for Leeds-based canine app following £167k investment

A Leeds-based canine business is celebrating having successfully completed a second round of investment funding, raising over £167k to support further development.

K9 Nation, brings together dog lovers and dog friendly businesses from across the UK via an app and online marketplace.

After securing an initial £250k pre-seed investment in 2020, this second round of funding will help the team take the business to the next level.

The company received additional funding from cornerstone investors from NorthInvest, alongside continued support from those involved in the pre-seed round.

Becky Baker, founder, K9 Nation, said: “We’re so pleased that we’ve secured this second round of funding with the help of NorthInvest.

“The money raised will go towards making significant developments to the K9 Nation app.

“We plan to invest in new technologies that will allow us to implement more features for canine-friendly businesses and dog owners alike, as well as further building on our community of over 2300 members.”

The funding was headed up by Dr David Pearce, CEO of Nephos Solutions, and Jordan Dargue, NorthInvest’s investment director.

Jordan Dargue, investment director, NorthInvest, said “We’ve been delighted to see the outpouring of support for K9 Nation from investors and the wider community.

“We’ve achieved great things so far and I’m proud to provide ongoing support to the company as it moves forward and can’t wait to see how they grow and evolve with the support of this latest round of investment.”

Based in Leeds, NorthInvest is a not-for-profit organisation helping tech and digital start-ups across the North of England raise angel investment and access expert support to help them fulfil their potential.
