£300m Whitechapel regeneration moves forward with launch of new development

A multi-million pound regeneration project in East London has progressed with the launch of a new residential scheme.

Developer L&Q has launched L&Q at The Silk District in the heart of Whitechapel as part of the area’s £300m regeneration.

L&Q’s new shared ownership homes are centred around a communal area of open green space and planting, with each apartment also providing access to a private balcony or terrace.

The £300m investment in Whitechapel will see the creation of a new £105m town hall, flexible workspaces and industry hubs, seven new public spaces and increased cycle and pedestrian routes.

Claire Brenlund, director of sales at L&Q, commented: “Whitechapel couldn’t be better positioned for buyers wanting to be close to the City for Monday to Friday, and also have plenty to do at the weekend.

“The likes of Spitalfields Market and Shoreditch are both an easy walk away, whilst Whitechapel Gallery and East End Thrift Shop are right on the doorstep.

“There couldn’t be a more exciting time to purchase in Whitechapel, as the area is transformed with new homes, shops and public spaces, becoming a major residential area on the border of central London.”
