Global bubble tea brand chooses Covent Garden for first foray into the capital

World renowned bubble tea experts, Gong cha, are coming to Covent Garden.

The 27-year-old brand, formed in Taiwan, will open the 65sq. metre store on 14th August. Located at 3 Garrick Street, WC2, the Far Eastern inspired store will also create jobs in the area.

Gong cha bubble tea is distinctive for its focus on finest quality ingredients. The premium end brand is now available in more than 21 countries with a total of over 1,500 stores and a growing brand footprint. Tea masters select only the finest tea leaves and ingredients to provide premium quality drinks.

Over 40 bubble tea variations will be available at the store which will open daily from 11am each morning until 8pm.

Milk teas are a classic choice providing a rich and creamy experience, with the Pearl Milk Tea a firm favourite. Tea bases can be selected from the options of black, oolong, green or earl grey Tea. The menu of tea infused drinks and milk tea options is complimented by smoothies and other refreshing drink options including firm favourite, “Dirtea”.

The bubbles in bubble teas are chewy pearls of tapioca balls, which bring life to the drinks. Other popular toppings that can be added to the teas are Gong cha’s signature milk foam (a sweet and savoury combination), coconut jelly and pudding.

Bubble teas can be served with selected levels of sweetness. On ordering, menu options allow customers to choose a percentage of sweetness for their preferred taste making Gong cha bubble teas personalised to the customer, always with the premium quality ingredients.

Justin Liew, Head of Gong cha England, says, “Gong cha has led the way in the premium bubble tea market, and we anticipate high demand in Covent Garden as local workers, shoppers and tourists enjoy our teas. They are refreshing at any time of the day, so we are offering extended opening hours to offer the opportunity to try tea from morning till night.”

Gong cha has stores in Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle in England and the Covent Garden store is the fifth to be opened since the company started trading in the country in 2019.
