Niall Mackinnon, Gent Visick (GV)

Property consultancy Gent Visick (GV) has appointed Niall Mackinnon as director to head up its new specialist lease advisory and asset management service.

Property professional joins GV from Cushman & Wakefield, having also previously worked at Avison Young. He plans to grow and develop the Lease Advisory and Asset Management team at GV, whilst capitalising on his 20 years in the Yorkshire real estate market.

In his new role Niall will provide a range of services to landlords and tenants, as well as wider asset management advice to a broad spectrum of clients including rent reviews, lease renewals, expert witness reports, lease restructures, brokerage, agency, estates strategies, investment pricing and section 18 valuations for industrial and office properties.

Niall commented: “It is great to be aligning myself with the best firm in the region. The GV team are well-connected and renowned commercial property experts. There have been a lot of changes in our industry over the last 18 months, and I was keen to join an independent, agile, forward-thinking practice.

“With sections of the market now witnessing unprecedented rental growth, I see Lease Advisory and Asset Management as an enormous growth area for GV. Our mission is to assist investors in maximising the value of their assets and to guide occupiers in generating occupational cost savings.”

Dan Wilson and Jane Loftus, Futures

Public sector recruitment specialist Futures has made two new appointments to its team.

Dan Wilson has joined the firm as marketing manager and Jane Loftus has been appointed as talent acquisition manager.

Dan brings over six years of experience in recruitment marketing to his new role, while Jane Loftus has worked in the recruitment sector for 15 years.

Dan commented: “After six years of working in recruitment marketing, I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Futures team and stepping into the role of marketing manager to help build and strengthen their marketing strategy in this period of rapid business growth. We already have a lot of exciting projects on the way for the company, and the future is definitely bright!”

Jane said: “From only being at Futures for a few months, I can already see the immense amount of talent that is already available in the team. I’m looking forward to the new challenges ahead in my new role as talent acquisition manager and supporting the team in finding the best talent out there.”

Rebecca Hailey, Glentrool Estates Group

Property developer and investor Glentrool Estates Group has appointed Rebecca Hailey as project manager.

Rebecca joins Glentrool from property consultancy JLL where she was an associate director and chartered building surveyor for 14 years. She previously worked for Montague Evans Building Consultancy and Baily Garner in London. Her clients included Legal and General, IPIF, Aviva, Barclays and Standard Life.

Rebecca commented: “This is a tremendously exciting opportunity for me. Glentrool are one of the most respected independent property development companies in the north of England and I am proud to be joining a close-knit and talented team.

“My main responsibility will be progressing the development of Sherburn2, Glentrool’s successful logistics and warehousing development in Sherburn-in-Elmet. More specifically, I will soon be delivering the spine road on the development, including the utilities infrastructure, together with the north and south phases at Sherburn2 and Sherburn3.

“More generally, I will be involved in the programming and budget appraisals for proposed industrial developments within Glentrool’s portfolio, together with providing project management, dilapidations and professional building surveying advice.”

Tabitha Hurst and Rosalin Brolly, Ellers Farm Distillery

Ellers Farm Distillery has appointed Tabatha Hurst as head of sustainability and Rosalin Brolly as an intern (funded by the University of York and Santander Bank).

Tabatha joins with a range of experience in the food and drink sector. After studying Environmental Science and Sustainability at university, she started off her professional career at Arla Foods, working on green logistics before moving into food safety and quality.

Following Tabatha, she moved into commercial roles at Nestlé and later, Quorn Foods, at which she entered a dedicated sustainability position in 2019, gaining expertise in creating a truly transparent and sustainable business.

To support Tabatha in the initial stages of crunching their carbon footprint numbers, the distillery has also collaborated with the University of York to take on Biology graduate, Rosalin Brolly, as a sustainability analyst.

Speaking of her new role, Tabatha said: “Although I wasn’t looking to leave my previous role, when I was approached by Ellers Farm, the fact they were aiming to achieve B-Corp status in the first 13 months from launch really piqued my interest.

“After meeting the team and learning that they truly cared about their impact on the planet, I knew Ellers Farm was a company I wanted to be a part of. Joining the team at such an early stage gives me the opportunity to ensure we look at sustainability holistically, focusing not just on carbon, but our social and environmental impact too.

“We’re not saying everything will be done perfectly from the beginning, but it’s a learning process; the most important thing is that we’re honest, transparent and willing to improve based on continuously reviewing what we could be doing better.”

Rosalin added: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to join such a climate positive company as Ellers Farm.

“I’m looking forward to being able to put my experience and knowledge acquired through the University of York to good use, ensuring we accurately measure our carbon footprint.

“I’ve already learnt so much from Tabatha and can’t wait to work with her to make Ellers Farm Distillery climate positive across every element of the organisation.”
