Lloyds Bank invests £70k in 'eco-friendly' Northumberland taxi firm
A £70k investment from Lloyds Bank has allowed Hexham’s EcoCabs to go “100 per cent off grid”.
The investment has allowed for EcoCabs to renovate its main workshop, add sustainable drainage, and finance an on-site grey water recycling plant.
Solar panelling has also been installed to help recharge the firm’s fleet of 30 electric and hybrid people carriers, taxis, and minibuses.
Matthew Kirkby, managing director of EcoCabs, said: “The changes we’ve made have helped us to make great progress towards attaining net zero status.
“In the coming weeks we’re hoping to implement a new system that will enable us to internally recycle our own plastic and commercial waste in the near future to further minimise our environmental impact.”
Elaine Gill, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, said: “The North East’s green credentials have gone from strength-to-strength over the past few years and firms like EcoCabs are playing a driving role in cutting our region’s carbon footprint.
“We’ve worked with Matthew and the EcoCabs team for a decade now and have seen the firm continually innovate to become more sustainable, while maintaining a first-class service for customers.”
