Structural engineering consultancy aims to build team with York office move

A York structural engineering consultancy has announced that it is moving to new offices following an increase in demand.

JME Consultants has reported that its profits have quadrupled over the past year, reaching its 200th project since launching in 2019.

Following the increase, the company has moved into new offices at Westminster Place just inside the York ring road.

It is aiming to go from having one full-time employee to 10 within the next five years, with the aim of 25 longer-term.

Jack Merrett, founder of JME Consultants, commented: “The five-year plan is to get to around ten members of staff, with the longer-term aim of having 20 to 25 staff,” said Jack.

“There is a tendency within the industry to put profit before people. We wanted to establish a business which puts people first, is realistic about workloads and operates with openness and transparency.

“It’s all about keeping standards high and treating everybody well, both clients and staff. We want to create a real collaborative atmosphere, where the people who work here don’t want to leave.”
