Read all about it: Bdaily boosts editorial team with new correspondent
Bdaily is excited to announce the appointment of a new correspondent to our editorial team.
Austen Shakespeare joins the Bdaily team at our head office in South Gosforth, Newcastle, on a full-time permanent basis.
He will be working on the editorial team reporting on business news from across the North East, Yorkshire and London.
Prior to joining Bdaily, Austen worked as a freelancer before graduating with an MA in journalism from the University of Sunderland in September 2020.
Upon graduation, he worked as a temporary local democracy reporter for JPI media, working closely with the Northumberland Gazette.
Austen takes up the mantle from previous correspondent Chloe Shakesby, who has been with Bdaily since January 2020.
Austen commented: “I’m so happy to be joining Bdaily as a correspondent. I’ve always had a passion for reporting on local business and not only will this opportunity allow me to do that, it also allows me to cover bigger national stories too.
“The Bdaily team has been so welcoming and nurturing that it really inspires confidence, dedication and drive to provide the best possible stories.
“I shall try and live up to the reputation of my talented predecessor Chloe who shall be sorely missed.”
Andrew Carter, business manager at Bdaily, said: “We’re thrilled to have Austen join the team at Bdaily.
“His experience as a local democracy reporter has given him great understanding of the political and business landscape in the North East and will undoubtedly help him expand his knowledge across Yorkshire, London and the rest of the nation in line with our main news areas.
“He’s already shown us his eye for a story is strong and his writing top notch. We’re looking forward to seeing his influence on the content we provide to our loyal readers.”
