120 new homes to be built on disused London campus
New houses and apartments are set to be built on a disused campus in Havering after councillors approved a housing scheme.
The plans, which will deliver 78 houses and 42 apartments across the nine-acre site, were approved by members of Havering Council’s strategic planning committee on July 15, subject to the finalisation of a planning agreement and conditions.
Bellway will provide 60 homes on its development, which will be known as Roe Wood Park, within the wider scheme.
Cllr Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said: “We are delighted to deliver this development in partnership with Mercury Land Holdings and Bellway.
“This scheme supports our ambition to deliver much needed housing in the borough which gives residents more choice and flexibility in the Havering housing market.”
Bill Kenneally, regional director of Bellway London Partnerships, said: “Following approval from the strategic planning committee, we will now be moving onto the site to begin demolition of the existing buildings and pave the way for the construction of these much-needed new homes in Havering.
“The development is also set to bring further investment into the local area, including £150k to be funded for the creation of a new sports pitch at The Brittons Academy, replacing the former pitch at Quarles Campus.”
