York manufacturing group builds turnover by £14m with "unique" modular building business
A Yorkshire manufacturing group has announced that its turnover has increased by more than £10m over the past year.
Shepherd Group, owner of modular building manufacturer Portakabin, has reported turnover of £348.4m for the year ending December 31.
This is a 4.2 per cent increase on 2019’s £334.3m, with pre-tax profit also rising from £44.7m to £49.3m.
Andrew Allner, chairman of Shepherd Building Group, commented: “Following an extensive period of investment, we are pleased to see our success continue into 2020.
“The cornerstone of the business is Portakabin with its unique product and ability to respond to rapidly changing market needs in the UK and Europe, which was much in evidence in 2020.
“Throughout the year we maintained a strong focus on implementing our strategy for growth by increasing our diversity in terms of infrastructure, products, operations, marketing and customers to strengthen the group as a whole.
“Portakabin saw an increase in operating profit of 36 per cent, a strong financial platform from which to continue with future growth plans and further investment in the company.”
