Newcastle training firm marks milestone anniversary

A locally owned and home-grown training company, based in Newcastle upon Tyne and headquartered in Newcastle Business Park, is celebrating its 20th anniversary on 1st October 2021.

Eliesha Training, jointly owned and still operated by Julie Flanagan (Managing Director) and Ann Burnhope (Finance Director), has now spent two successful decades in business.

Eliesha specialises in offering management and leadership products and services, designed and delivered in support of talent management and workforce development. It collaborates with customers in a wide variety of sectors as a trusted and long-term learning partner, often consulting around an organisation’s unique context and challenges before recommending a targeted and multi-faceted learning solution.

Since its formation in 2001, Eliesha has steadily grown in national and international reputation and market presence; working with FTSE companies as well as some of the UK’s largest public sector employers. In 2006, in European-wide tendering competition, Eliesha won the prestigious contract to deliver a fully managed learning service to Welsh Government. This contract was successfully retained in further tender competitions and delivered for over 10 years. A strong market presence in Wales is still maintained.

Continuing to build upon this reputation, Eliesha more recently acquired Tier One supplier status on one of the largest training contracts in Europe; supporting the delivery of management & leadership, coaching & mentoring and professional skills training to the Civil Service.

Tony Cunningham, Eliesha’s Development Director, said: “More than 100 national customers, spanning central government departments, local government, universities, the NHS, non-profits and private sector global corporates, and impacting over 60,000 delegates a year, benefit from our learning and development solutions. Through very challenging economic times and competitive marketplaces, Eliesha has survived, thrived and built a reputation of punching above its weight.“

“Our learning services support industry best practice,“ he continued, “thanks in no small part to our Approved Centre status and influential partnerships with the professional industry bodies, The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM). We also support the increasing market trend and drive for professional management skills as an approved provider of the new Management Apprenticeships. These partnerships have enabled us to maintain high levels of professional standards and innovation in all of our design and delivery.“

After a challenging period with the Covid-19 pandemic, Eliesha has returned to growth and is strongly positioned in the market. Its 25-strong team is actively supporting customers’ people development strategies, helping to equip them with the knowledge, confidence and capability to face the challenges of the 21st Century workplace and, in the words of the UK government, to ‘build back better’.

Ann Burnhope, joint owner, co-founder and Finance Director, added “After 20 successful years and the recent challenges, Eliesha is stronger than ever, with staff committed to delivering the highest quality, innovative learning and development in these exciting and ever-changing times.“
