Plans for new Parson Cross houses approved by Sheffield Council

PLANS for a new generation of housing in the Parson Cross area of Sheffield have been approved by city councillors.

Malthouses, a development of 73 high quality, accessible two, three and four bedroomed properties on land close to the Chaucer Road shopping parade, has been designed by the team at CODA Architecture.

The site - being redeveloped by Sheffield Housing Company - was previously made up of post-war properties that have been demolished.

The new homes have been designed to fit within the local surroundings and will feature both ample car parking and landscaping.

“We are very excited to have been working on the Malthouses development and delighted that it has been approved,” said CODA managing director Matt Bowker.

“This is an area of Sheffield that is extremely well populated but is in real need of housing that meets 21st century specifications if it is to attract the next generation of home owners to this part of the city.

“People who have never visited may not realise that Parson Cross has lots of green areas and nature sites such as Colley Park, Longley Park and Parson Cross Park.

“There is excellent access to public transport and other facilities that will, we believe, make Malthouses a very popular development.

“Sheffield Housing Company believes in investing locally, delivering quality, valuing the environment and championing inclusivity - and these are exactly the values we put into all our designs.

“Malthouses will, we believe, be vital to the regeneration the Parson Cross area.”
