Leeds oven cleaning business clinches sponsorship deal
Businessman Dean Chew is offering some extra valuable support to his son’s under-13’s football team.
For the former TV technician and NHS worker has sponsored Yorkshire Amateur Junior FC U13 Barca - with the players’ new kit now bearing the distinctive Ovenu branding.
Dean, who launched oven valeting service Ovenu Leeds North West last summer, said the gesture is designed to support the area’s young people, as well as grassroots football.
He said: “My lad Theo has been playing football since the age of five and since joining U13 Barca several months ago, I’ve naturally taken an interest.
“This team has a real pride and passion, but also requires plenty of effort behind the scenes to keeping things running smoothly. Raising money has been especially tough during the pandemic, so I wanted to help out by sponsoring them.”
That support has certainly rubbed off with U13 Barca recently celebrating a convincing 9-0 home victory against Farsley Celtic FC U13 Greens.
Dean, who had worked in the NHS, returned to help out early last year as a locum orthopaedic plaster technician, before finally realising his ambition to run his own business.
He previously spent 19 years as a stage technician in the theatre and with Opera North and Northern Ballet, plus a further three years with TV props departments.
Dean said: “Although it was a difficult time to take on any business, the pandemic meant more people spent time at home cooking and baking, which has kept me very busy.
“I’ve already built up a loyal client-base and the business is going from strength to strength, so it’s nice to be able to give something back.”
Stephen Broodie, U13’s coach, said: “Everyone connected with the team and club are extremely grateful to Dean for his support. After a testing year, and the kids not playing football for long periods, this sponsorship is really positive. It has provided a new full kit for all the players, which looks amazing and really means the world to us. They are super proud to wear the shirt week in week out.”
The Ovenu valeting process involves dismantling key components of an oven and placing them into a design registered tank, using non-caustic cleaning products.
Leeds North West covers Horsforth, Yeadon, Pudsey, Farsley, Morley, Swillington, Rothwell, Ilkley, Guiseley, Otley, and surrounding areas.
