Pedal powered partner boosts Belmayne charity cash

A partner at Dronfield-based independent financial planners, Belmayne, has added more than £1,000 to firm’s charity fund by completing a gruelling bike ride around the Yorkshire Dales.

Ben Smalley and his good friend ‘Farmer Jack’ took on the Five Dales Sportive on behalf of the Belmayne Foundation, raising £1,088 for four local charities.

The duo completed the 138.8km course, which starts and end in Richmond, in eight hours, eight minutes, having conquered 2,268 metres of ascent, including the infamous Buttertubs Pass.

Keen cyclist, Ben, is now gearing up for a second fundraising event and will be tackling the Everest Challenge this month, which will see him climb 29,029 feet over seven days. He said: “The Five Dales was tough going, but well worth the effort, thanks to the fantastic family, friends and colleagues who supported me. I am really proud to have added more than £1,000 to this year’s fundraising total and I look forward to increasing that even further by hitting the hills once more.”

The Belmayne Foundation supports small local charities focusing on health, wellbeing and those in need. All money raised this year will be split equally between FareShare Yorkshire, Pathways of Chesterfield, Nenna Kind and Helen’s Trust.
