You’re hired! CPP expands Apprentice Programme as part of ambitious growth strategy

Commercial Property Partners (CPP) has recently appointed a trio of new apprentices as part of the company’s expansion strategy to grow and nurture new talent.

Specialising in the disposal, acquisition, and management of commercial property, CPP has moved from strength to strength since its foundation, with the UK commercial property sector reportedly at its busiest since 2007.

CPP’s successful apprenticeship scheme reflects the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) Apprentice Programme, which has already produced qualified surveyors who are now an integral part of the growing CPP business, with offices in Sheffield, Leeds, Nottingham, and London.

CPP Director Roger Haworth said: “Our apprenticeship programme is now in its fifth year and offers a fantastic route for ambitious trainees who are guaranteed the very best RICS approved programme, coupled with hands-on experience supporting and learning from our senior team members.”

Fellow CPP director Toby Vernon added: “People are absolutely core to our business at CPP, and we are proud of our pioneering approach within the industry to invest in and develop home grown talent.

“The apprenticeship programme has been very successful for CPP, enabling us to bring candidates on board at a very early stage of their career and to nurture their talents”.

Max Pickering joined the CPP Apprentice programme in 2016 from Silverdale School, Sheffield and is now a qualified MRICS Surveyor with a BSc (Hons) in Real Estate Management. He works across both the industrial and office sectors.

Max explained: “I have had an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable experience and became a chartered surveyor much quicker than the conventional route of university. As a result, I have no student debt, but five years of experience and knowledge about the industry - and all whilst enjoying the ability to earn money while learning.”

CPP’s latest apprentice recruits include Chloé Bennett, Alfie Broughton, and Charlie Proctor.

19-year-old Chloe who joined from Notre Dame School, Sheffield said: “Following on from my work experience at CPP I saw how much variety real estate had to offer both in my career and everyday professional life. The apprenticeship route appealed to me straight away as it gives the opportunity to gain invaluable experience with on-the-job training that works hand in hand alongside gaining a degree.”

Alfie Broughton, 18, also from Notre Dame School in Sheffield, is currently an Assistant Surveyor in the CPP Property & Asset Management Team. He explained: “I chose to go down the apprenticeship route because I think it will benefit my career more than if I went to university. Learning in a working environment has more advantages to me than working in a classroom.”

21-year-old Charlie from Silverdale School, Sheffield is now in his third year with CPP. He added: “I felt it would be much more beneficial learning on the job and gaining valuable experience, whilst having a qualification on the side. An apprenticeship route was also highly recommended by my friends and family. After becoming a chartered surveyor, I will hopefully continue to work alongside my colleagues, growing my own network and relationships within the profession.”
