“Iconic” Newcastle building welcomes new occupants following seven-figure refurbishment
An “iconic” Newcastle building has welcomed a trio of lettings following its seven-figure refurbishment.
Central Square South in Newcastle City Centre has now reached over 90 per cent occupancy since it underwent significant refurbishment in 2016 having set new standards for office accommodation in the city.
Acting on behalf of Aberdeen Standard Investments, joint agents Sanderson Weatherall and Cushman & Wakefield negotiated the latest lettings to Xplor Technologies, Lumo and Clyde & Co.
Xplor Technologies took a new lease on the entirety of the first floor which extends to 13,334 sq ft, whilst Clyde & Co relocated within the building to the ground floor taking 4,474 sq ft. Transport group Lumo acquired 5,457 sq ft on part of the fourth floor.
Michael Downey, of Sanderson Weatherall, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic provided a significant source of uncertainty for the property industry, and more specifically the office market.
“We feel however that the three lettings at Central Square South have further reinforced the requirement for the best type of office space in a post pandemic market, as a flight to quality is more potent than ever before.
“The three lettings that have been concluded is a great result for our client as we begin to approach full occupancy”.
Greg Davison, of Cushman & Wakefield, added: “We are seeing occupiers really start to recognise the value of providing staff with a great place to work in order to encourage collaboration and adapt to new ways of working Central Square South offers all of the qualities to meet these new demands.”
