Korean chicken brand signs second London store
South Korean fried chicken brand, Pelicana, is expanding its footprint in the capital having signed its second store, at Angel Central, Islington.
Pelicana will occupy two floors across 2,172 sq ft at Islington’s Angel Central, located above Monsoon. It will offer a dedicated takeaway on the ground floor and a dine-in restaurant for 80 covers on the first floor.
Founded in 1982, Pelicana has over 3,000 stores across Asia, Australia, China, Canada and the USA. It became one of the first brands to commercialise fried chicken for delivery and is now a mainstay in Korean food culture.
Ciara Daffy, asset manager at CBRE Investment Management – which advised Pelicana – said: “Pelicana is a global phenomenon that will contribute something new to Angel Central.
“The recent completion of the award-winning Angel Central refurbishment has created exciting leasing opportunities, with the likes of UNIQLO, Frame, Saint Espresso, and now Pelicana delivering amazing quality and variety of choice for our community.”
Mr Kim, owner of Pelicana, said: “Islington’s Angel Central is the perfect location to continue our growth within the UK.
“Pelicana is a brand that delivers great taste and stays true to its roots, and we are confident that Angel Central’s shoppers and diners will enjoy our recipes, as we establish ourselves within the Islington community.”
CBRE and CWM represent Angel Central for both retail and leisure enquiries.
