Heathcotes apprentice celebrates win in the Love Chesterfield Awards
Chesterfield-based care provider, Heathcotes Group, toasted the success of one of its colleagues when the company’s Business Support Assistant, Ellie Gibson, won Apprentice of the Year in the finals of the Love Chesterfield Awards.
Recent Strictly star and breakfast TV presenter Mike Bushell announced the winners of the awards at a sell-out black tie ceremony held at the Winding Wheel last night. More than 250 people attended the event, organised by Destination Chesterfield to celebrate the town’s favourite food and drink and retail businesses, entrepreneurs, regeneration, contributions to the local community, apprenticeships and sustainability.
Brendan Kelly, Group Managing Director at Heathcotes Group, said:
“Ellie richly deserves this award – it highlights a wonderful success story and demonstrates the benefits of investing in talented people though apprenticeships. Having completed her apprenticeship at the end of November, Ellie is firmly established in a permanent role and a much-valued member of our head office team.”
Ellie Gibson said:
“It was a bit of a shock to win the award, but I really enjoyed the ceremony and I’m very proud of the achievement. I loved my apprenticeship, and it has helped me to establish a rewarding and fulfilling career. With the backing of an employer that believes in apprenticeships and believes in your ability, it’s a great way to achieve professional development.”
Dom Stevens, Destination Chesterfield Manager, said:
“This year the awards were a celebration on so many levels – recognising entrepreneurial and community spirit, achievement and survival. I am delighted that the business community was once again able to come together in person, connect with each other and share in each other’s success. It was a brilliant event.”
