Customers are in safe hands after CMS gains fire safety certification

Commercial Maintenance Services (CMS) UK Ltd, one of the UK’s leading facilities maintenance companies, has achieved official recognition of its competency in installing fire detection and alarm systems and emergency lighting.

The company has been assessed by the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) and awarded BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) registration SP203-1 for competency in designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining fire detection and alarm systems, as well as SP203-4 for emergency lighting systems.

Certification with the not-for-profit SSAIB is a mark of excellence for companies providing security systems and services, fire detection and alarm systems, telecare systems and services, manned security services and monitoring services. Third-party certification plays an increasingly important role in enabling firms like CMS to compete in the marketplace and access to some market sectors that may be conditional on having third-party certification. Stephen Dunn, CMS people and compliance director, said: “We are really pleased to have been awarded the BAFE kitemark for the installation of fire alarm systems and emergency lighting, which will greatly help us with our marketing strategy going forward. “The awards recognise our commitment to high quality and safety and show that CMS is a trusted installer of fire alarm systems and emergency lighting. “Having the BAFE kitemark provides our clients with the reassurance that they are getting the best and safest service possible when it comes to installing these essential systems.” CMS, which is based in Gateshead, has more than 20 years’ experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing business-critical systems throughout the UK, including heating, plumbing, electricals, air conditioning, and refrigeration. It operates a series of engineering hubs throughout the country ensuring a reactive, cost-effective, and efficient response.
