Laura Robinson PR Celebrate their One Year Anniversary
**Today marks one year since PR and Social Media Expert, Laura Robinson, took a leap of faith in herself and launched her own agency, Laura Robinson PR **
Laura, who has over a decade of experience in PR, events, and content decided to go solo after taking maternity leave back in 2019 following the arrival of her second child.
Facing her return to this role she found that, due to the pandemic, the working landscape had dramatically changed and the position that she had previously held was now in a fragile state.
For career minded Laura, she knew that she didn’t want the pandemic to stop her from returning to work.
She had always wanted to set an example for her children as a strong woman who can juggle both being a mother and having a successful career and she knew that this time presented her with the best opportunity to launch her own agency.
On November 1st 2020 Laura launched ‘Laura Robinson PR’, with a goal to secure just one client by Christmas.
When the time came, she had secured three.
Laura said, “When the pandemic hit, which was a really uncertain time for many, lots of businesses looked for extra support. The whole world went online and that’s when successful digital PR and social media became even more important for brands who had to discover their online voice and cultivate it to survive.”
By February, the demand was so high that she knew she needed some support and launched a search for an intern which saw Holly Harper join the agency.
Holly said, “This industry is extremely competitive and those, like myself, who are just finding their feet often end up taking on a lot of unpaid work to gain experience. That experience is great, but it doesn’t pay the bills. Which is why, when I saw on social media the opportunity to join Laura Robinson PR’s paid internship scheme, I jumped at the chance.”
Since then, the demand for work has soared so high that last week Holly was able to join the agency as a full-time, press and social media executive.
Over the past 12 months, the small team has created big results.
They’ve secured countless headlines, national TV appearances, celebrity and influencer campaigns, and events. Their most recent event for Leeds based restaurant, SAKKU, garnered a social reach of over 1 million Instagram users.
On the success of her agency in such a short period of time, Laura said, “Launching your own business requires a lot of faith in yourself and there were times when I doubted whether I could do it. I took a huge risk in not pursuing a traditional 9-5 job but this year has proved to me that the risk has paid off as LRPR continues to surpass all of my expectations.”
At the heart of this agency is their philosophy to always stay true to their northern roots. This means that the team always stays grounded, are reliable and hard working and, most important of all, will be your biggest brand cheerleaders.
After spending a lot of her career working in London, Laura recognised a need for more northern PR agencies that could support the thriving businesses the north of England holds home to.
She said, “I’d had a lot of experience working in London on large national and global events and I wanted to draw on all of that to give back to clients in the North of England. Post-pandemic, businesses have become more and more inclined to leave the capital and I love being able to champion all of the incredible businesses that we have to offer here in the north.”
Laura’s love of the north, in particular her beloved Yorkshire, has certainly translated into the agency’s work as they were recently awarded Yorkshire Prestige’s ‘PR Consultant Of The Year’.
In their next year of business, Laura Robinson PR, hopes to build on this accolade to expand their team, deliver more national and international campaigns for clients and open their own creative studio space.
Aside from this, Laura hopes to continue telling her own story that women with children, of any age, don’t have to give up on their own dreams and ambitions; they can in fact, have it all.
