Suzanne Wrench joins esphr as associate solicitor

New-model employment law firm and employee relations (ER) technology business, esphr, has bolstered its ESP Law team following the appointment of an accomplished associate solicitor.

Since qualifying with Walker Morris in 2005, employment law specialist Suzanne has amassed more than 15 years’ industry experience which has included legal roles with Greenwoods GRM LLP and the City of Bradford Metropolitan Council. Alongside her work in both the private and public sector, Suzanne also has expertise representing large-scale household names in various industries including education, travel, retail, and manufacturing.

Throughout her career, Suzanne has dealt with a wide range of employee relations-related (ER) matters. Recently she was seconded from her usual legal advisory role to act as an HR Business Partner for a construction client and led a specific element of a change programme which involved redundancies and restructuring.

Suzanne joins ESP Law’s six-strong legal team that has always worked from home. She will be based in Lincolnshire and responsible for providing commercially focused advice to help hundreds of UK employers – including Greene King, Randstad and Entain plc – to drive strategic and meaningful change in their organisations.

“There’s something refreshingly different about ESP Law. There’s room to develop and you’re not tied to a clock because the operational model allows for greater, more flexible partnership working,” she said.

“I wanted to experience something other than private practice ‘churn’ and this team’s customer-centric approach really stood out to me. Its subscription model represents the future of legal services and the esphr ER case management tool, MyHRCases, is forward-thinking and innovative.”

Commenting on how important an effective ER strategy will be for organisations to successfully move beyond the Covid-19 pandemic, Suzanne added: “Managing people has never been more vital. There’s a huge amount of pressure on stretched HR teams, and many have risen to the occasion despite facing incredibly challenging circumstances.

“There’s still work to be done to overcome vast global change, and I’m excited to guide and support employers, and help them to ensure ER is firmly number one on their strategic agenda.”

The good news follows the recent promotion for ESP Law’s senior solicitor Charlotte Ashton, who is now the team’s head of immigration.

Speaking about the newest recruit, esphr’s CEO and founder Pete Byrne, said: “Suzanne embodies everything that we’re about at esphr.
