National bedroom furniture retailer rests its head in County Durham
Nationally operating bedroom furniture retailer Bensons for Beds has opened a new distribution hub in County Durham to provide delivery to customers in the North East.
The new location in Tursdale has 24 colleagues and a fleet of 11 vehicles to provide deliveries from North Yorkshire to Northumberland and Cumbria.
This follows Bensons’ decision to bring its delivery service in the region in-house, to increase its profile and give it control over “last mile” delivery to improve customers’ experience.
As part of the move, six colleagues transferred from its previous delivery provider, alongside 18 new recruits.
Spokesman Chris McMillan said: “We’re delighted to welcome new colleagues and those who chose to transfer and join the Bensons team.
“The new service has got off to a great start and we look forward to developing the service over the coming months and years.”
Bensons has distribution centres at Huncoat in Lancashire, Ayr in Scotland, and Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, as well as its manufacturing site in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
