Leeds Firm Becomes Commercial Lines Insurance Broker of the Year
Leeds-based insurance broker, McCarron Coates, has scooped the prestigious national UK Broker Award for ‘Commercial Lines Broker of the Year’.
The insurance brokers, headquartered in Morley, were recognised by the judges for their dedication to their coach sector clients during the pandemic. This took the form of innovatively putting pressure on MPs, urging them to hear the plight of coach companies, through what was a high-impact campaign with the compelling message of ‘Wish You Could Hear.’
The campaign was so successful that it was even mentioned at the start of the Parliamentary debate into the coach sector’s future.
McCarron Coates’ insight into the courier insurance market and its production of a booklet highlighting all a courier needs to know about their insurance risks and threats to their business, also caught the eye. With hugely impressive general growth, as well as the creation of an internal claims team to help deliver service excellence, the overall success story led the team to victory.
This is the second national award of the year for McCarron Coates, which also won a National Insurance Award in July 2021, when the brokerage was adjudged the Commercial Lines Specialist Broker of the Year.
The team has also been a finalist in the British Insurance Awards this year and, in November 2019, scooped two national Insurance Times awards.
Speaking on behalf of the team and fellow directors, Ian McCarron and Luigi Maggio, Paul Coates says: “We have enjoyed phenomenal awards’ success this year and it is particularly rewarding to see that judges have recognised the lengths we have gone to for our coach sector clients, for no financial reward for ourselves at all.”
At the time of waging the campaign on behalf of coach operators, McCarron Coates was earning no commissions or payments from the sector, as vehicles were being taken off the road and insurance refunds were being paid back to operators. This level of commitment to clients generated hugely positive media comments that suggested McCarron Coates was the broker “standing with the industry”.
Paul Coates adds: “We are truly proud of what we have achieved and delighted that we are building a fast-growing brokerage on the basis of word-of-mouth recommendation and our standing and reputation in the industry.”
