Ethical jewellers opens new showroom in York after £20k refurbishment

York’s first ethical jewellery brand unveils new showroom after £20k refurbishment.

Nightingale was first founded by husband and wife Stephen and Diane Nightingale in 2016. The duo originally set up shop in York’s Barleycorn Yard with the help of Ryan Atkins from direct-to-consumer specialists The Embarking Group, and was the first ethical jewellery brand established on York’s high street.

Nightingale recently opened its brand new showroom on November 29. Located in York city centre on Colliergate, the space underwent £20k refurbishment to ensure a prime experience for customers. The showroom acts as a base where customers can meet face-to-face with Nightingale’s team of specialists.

Nightingale utilises lab-grown diamonds, ethically mined diamonds and Fairtrade gold by only working with ethical and respected suppliers, aiming to stem the flow of conflict diamonds.

Ryan Atkins said: “When you buy from us, you join us in our mission to support better working conditions, better environmental practices and more transparent supply chains.

Whilst we’re not claiming to be putting an end to the harm caused by the diamond mining industry, we do want to educate and encourage buyers on how they can make a more ethically informed purchase when it comes to fine jewellery.“

The new showroom is located on 11 Colliergate, York, YO1 8BP and is open Monday to Friday, 10am - 6pm and weekends by appointment.
