Malhotra Group brings Dot Bagels on board

A leading North East leisure and hospitality operator has joined forces with a fledgling business, borne out of lockdown, to announce two new ventures.

Malhotra Group plc – which includes a portfolio of hotels, bars and restaurants across the North East – has announced a collaboration with catering newcomer Dot Bagels.

The bagel retailer – which has branches at Heaton and Jesmond and a pop-up at Fenwick, Newcastle – is to open for business at the Group’s flagship Three Mile site at Gosforth.

And it will also be the catering partner at a new Malhotra Group venture; MRKT Coffee – next to the city centre Market Lane pub at Pilgrim Street.

Dot Bagels has won a firm following for its New York style bagels with an ever- changing choice of fillings and Malhotra Group’s Operations Director, Vaz Malhotra, said the business would be “a perfect fit for our new coffee shop – which is aimed at office workers, shoppers and visitors to the city alike.”

At Three Mile, Dot Bagels will run a stand-alone concession, replacing the existing Great North Coffee outlet.

“Again, I feel Dot Bagels and Three Mile will complement each other perfectly,” said Vaz.

“Three Mile’s Pizza Dough Co restaurant is hugely popular with Great North Hotel residents and local families alike and Dot Bagels will be an excellent additional option for parents popping in after the school run, colleagues having a working coffee and friends meeting up for a light lunch.”

Craig Robinson, who founded Dot Bagels at the beginning of lockdown, said he was “ridiculously excited to be working with the team at Malhotra Group.

“Our favourite thing is when things naturally just fall into place, the potential of working with such a locally respected group is just a perfect “bagel” recipe.”

Malhotra Group plc’s Chief Operating Officer Atul Malhotra said the partnership paves the way for similar future arrangements.

“We have a considerable number of sites across Tyneside,” he said “and discussions are already advanced in relation to collaborations with other local independent operators.”
