Where's Fred's selects Frederick's Place for debut

The Mercers’ Company has today announced the opening of Where’s Fred’s, its first location in the heart of the city at 7 Frederick’s Place.

Owned by the Mercer’s Company, Frederick’s Place sits in a Georgian cul-de-sac adjacent to Bank Station and is part of a unique campus style cluster of historic, character buildings, which are part of an ongoing multi £million transformation and investment by the Mercers’ Company.

Where’s Fred’s day-to-night café and wine-bar will occupy the ground floor of a restored townhouse, which by day is flooded by natural light via tall front windows, a long skylight and a central light-well. The interior, hosting 40 covers, has been designed by owner Chelsea Finch with the help of Block1: Design and features exposed brick walls retained from the renovation, Modbar espresso taps, banquette seating, a neon light, and an installation of native Australian flowers by florist Izabela Davi.

Where’s Fred’s has an all-day food offer, from brunch right through to dinner including dishes such as Pan con tomatè with fried eggs and Fred’s loaded banana bread, made to founder Chelsea Finch’s own recipe. Sandwiches made using focaccia from the Snapery bakery, and a hot dish such as Steak and Vintage Cheddar Pie are available at lunchtime. By evening the menu changes again to include sharing plates and a focused selection of low-intervention wines and cocktails.

Chelsea Finch, Founder, Where’s Fred’s, commented on the debut launch: “Frederick’s Place provides us with a buzzing central location right in the heart of the square mile to showcase our bespoke all day offer. We look forward to welcoming people to experience our wonderful food and drinks, all within a design-led and friendly environment.”

Simon Taylor, Property Director at the Mercers’ Company, added: “Where’s Fred’s opening is particularly timely with the gradual return of people to the capital, not only does it enhance the traditional atmosphere on Frederick’s Place, but it also provides city workers and London locals with a fantastic location to enjoy, at all times of the day.”

The opening follows the recent launch of exclusive members space, The Conduit on Langley Street, in September and joins Italian gelato brand Badiani, located at 2 Mercer Walk, as well as the world’s first prison-based coffee company, Redemption Roasters, announcing it has signed for its debut location in the West End, due to open at 40 Drury Lane later this year.

Where’s Fred’s represented themselves while Distrikt acted on behalf of the Mercers’ Company.
