Firm appointed for "major" Kingston-Upon-Thames regeneration project

A property consultancy firm has been appointed by the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames as development consultants for Transform Kingston.

A long-term partnership, the project is set to span five years and aims to deliver new facilities for the area, as well as improving a number of the borough’s existing assets.

Red Loft’s team will initially provide development consultancy for the delivery of a brand-new community leisure and cultural development, located on the site of the former Kingfisher Leisure Centre.

Matt Carter, director at Red Loft, commented: “We are delighted to be supporting The Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames on this landmark new project. The Council is a new client for us, but we are looking forward to a long and exciting partnership, with many major milestones ahead.

“The plans for Kingston town centre will be extremely significant for the borough; creating new employment opportunities for local people and exciting new public facilities for residents.”

Councillor John Sweeney, Kingston’s Portfolio Holder for Business and Leisure, said: “Our plans for a brand-new leisure complex on the site of the old Kingfisher are key to our plans for a heritage-led regeneration of our town centre – putting Kingston’s unique history at the heart of the borough’s renewal.

“The boost projects such this will provide will be vital to our economic and community recovery as we all adjust to a very different world following the pandemic – a future where our town centre will be just as much about culture and entertainment as it will be about shopping.”
